INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN
POSITION SUMMARY
4WardWA Development West Africa (4WardWA) provides high-quality water services through kiosks, Pump Insurance (PiN), household and business connections, and packaged water services for wholesale, retail, and individual consumption.
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Installation Technician will ensure safe and sustainable groundwater wells are drilled, designed and constructed and efficiently oversee the installation of Numa water systems (Nexus, Nodes, Nanos, Nows, Handpumps etc) as defined by the Operations Manager in accordance with 4Ward guidelines and policies. S/He will lead field workers (support/contract staff) and provide guidance to other staff designated to assist with water systems installations, inspection and evaluation.
S/He will be required to support the Operations Supervisor in ongoing and new projects. Success in this role will be demonstrated by the ability to multitask and learn fast on the job, following blueprints and instructions created by the 4Ward Technical team to construct and maintain sustainable groundwater wells and install water systems in our operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate and supervise all geophysical and hydrogeological surveys and drilling operations undertaken for and on behalf of 4ward Development WA as well as collate accurate hydrogeological data of well water logs, GPS coordinates, and photos of all water wells.
Design and construct all newly drilled boreholes and ensure the wells are developed to free the water from drilling fluid, aquifer sediments and possible foreign materials introduced during the drilling process.
Conduct varied pumping tests and carry out analysis of the data.
Collect, label and appropriately store water samples to be forwarded to 4ward accredited water laboratory for quality analysis.
Install and maintain solar pumps (Afridev, Indian Mk II) etc
Provide technical insight in processing, studying and analyzing geophysical and other hydrogeological survey data to recommend the best drilling sites for successful drilling operations.
Understand and interpret maps, geophysical data and historical models to build up a picture of the groundwater regime and possible sources of contaminants of selected drilling sites.
Siting of Numa water structures (towers, water kiosks etc.) and appropriately mapping them on google earth.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education***
Minimum qualification of BSc/HND in Geological Engineering, Earth Science or a related Engineering Field, Operations, or a relevant field and
At least Experience equal to three (3) years of full-time work in engineering, borehole drilling, installation materials inspection and testing, or installing water systems.
REPORTING
The Installation Technician will report to the Operations Manager.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment - Office – Standard Office Environment; Must live in Daboase, Takoradi, and surrounding areas.
Physical Demands - Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day. The total working hours in a week is 40 hours. Should work be done during evenings and weekends, the SDO will be compensated with an equal amount of time off.
Travel Requirements: Some travel is required for this role.
